limited edition prints

Definitions & Descriptions:
Limited Edition Prints – A numbered set of identical prints in a quantity predetermined by the artist. The edition is signed and numbered by the artist.
Fine Art Prints - The artist creates an image on a matrix of suitable materials such as a lithograph or a linoleum block for the purpose of making multiples. The artist collaborates with a master printer, who makes proofs as the artwork develops until the artist is satisfied with the result. A final proof is approved and the edition is printed on archival cotton paper.
Lithograph Prints – Lithography means stone writing and is a process based on the chemistry of oils and water. The porous surface of limestone (or litho-plate) is used as a drawing surface for the artist. Any material containing grease or oil may be used as a drawing material. Once the drawing is completed, the untouched white areas of the stone or plate are sealed to prevent their acceptance of ink. The surface is inked and by pressure of a mechanical press, the inked image is transferred to the paper. The inking and running the paper through the press is repeated for each color on each print.
Digital Prints – A digital print can be made as a reproduction of an existing artwork (such as a painting or drawing) or an artwork can be created specifically for production as a digital print. The image is digitally photographed and downloaded to a computer that facilitates the production of the image on a printer. The printer sprays inks on archival paper or canvas in a technique called giclée (pronounced gee-clay, French meaning to spray). IRIS and Epson are brand names of digital printers capable of producing highly accurate large prints.
Prices – Prices and print availability are subject to change. Please contact lasecretaria [AT] carmenlomasgarza.com for current prices and ordering information. The price does not include shipping and insurance.

Artist Statement: “When waiting passengers see the copper cutout Baile it is as if they are looking in through a window of an artist’s studio. The artist is painting an image of Jarabe Tapatio dancers from Mexico. The metal cutout was based on a paper cutout that was photographed, digitized, and cut with a high-pressure jet stream of water.”
